iDebit remains one of the most popular ways for people across Canada to make instant and secure online bank transfer deposits to top tier online gambling operators, while also facilitating the ability to withdraw funds from a player account, but fewer brands now support it. Our #2 ranked online sportsbook for Canada offers iDebit payments. Find them below with their Canadian sports betting bonuses (if we're allowed to show them) & links to their respective sportsbook reviews. While these brands serve Canada from their "offshore" jurisdictions, know that they are all live within Ontario's legal market. We also address how iDebit works, with FAQs answered on fees, timelines, minimum and maximum deposit levels, which banks support it, and we even compare iDebit to Instadebit.

iDebit allows people with Canadian personal bank accounts to make secure bank transfers to supporting merchants, including online gambling operators. You do not even need an account with iDebit to get started, as you can complete your first deposit with iDebit as a guest. When you go to make your deposit from the cashier area of your chosen betting or casino site and select iDebit, you will indicate the amount you wish to deposit and then proceed. You will then be asked to select your bank from a list of Canadian banks (all the big ones are supported). Then, simply enter the credentials for your online banking profile and follow the prompts to confirm the transfer.
Once you have fully set up your iDebit account, you will be able to use it to receive withdrawals from your chosen gambling site. Then, once the funds are in your iDebit account, you can withdraw them back to your bank, or use for payments or deposits to other iDebit merchants or gaming sites. So technically, iDebit is not a fully fledged e-wallet, as you do not pay into iDebit directly initially, and then make payments from your account with them. For initial deposits, they simply facilitate secure payments from your bank. It is their ability to receive player account withdrawals into your iDebit account which makes it feel like an e-wallet service, when technically, it is not.
iDebit works with personal bank accounts at Bank of Montreal (BMO), Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC), Desjardins, National Bank, Royal Bank of Canada (RBC), Scotiabank, Simplii Financial and TD Canada Trust.
If you are with a financial institution not listed here, like a regional bank, online-only bank or credit union, and you feel a bit disappointed, simply scroll to another section which compares iDebit to Instadebit. We also provide links to other popular Canadian online gambling payment methods, so you may find a good alternative.
Signing up with iDebit is free.
When you make a payment from your bank account via iDebit, iDebit charges a $1.50 fee.
If you make a payment to an iDebit merchant or gambling site from your iDebit account balance, there is no fee, this style of payment would be free.
When you process a withdrawal from your chosen sportsbook or casino site to iDebit, there is no fee to receive the funds - it lands in your iDebit balance for free.
If you withdraw funds from your iDebit balance to your bank account, there is a $2.00 fee.
Note that your bank may or may not charge their own fees for allowing interactions with iDebit. Check with your bank if concerned about their associated fees, but as you can see, iDebit's fees are very reasonable.

When you authorize a bank transfer via iDebit, or you make a payment directly from your iDebit balance to an online sportsbook or casino provider, the funds should essentially land instantly. On rare occasions, it could take a few minutes.
When you withdraw funds from your betting or casino site with iDebit, you are always going to withdraw funds back to your iDebit account. iDebit does not facilitate direct withdrawals from your gaming site account to your bank account in the same style as their deposits, where they are essentially acting as a secure conduit for your bank transfer deposit payment.
Sportsbook or casino withdrawals to iDebit should land within about 24 hours or one business day. If you then want to withdraw those funds from your iDebit account to your Canadian personal bank account, it can take up to five business days, but this is the maximum time it should take. Most withdrawals to your bank should have a shorter wait time.
In general, minimum deposit or withdrawal transaction limits tend to be in the $10 region for iDebit. Some operators may have it set at $20.
Maximum value limits can vary more widely between operators when it comes to iDebit deposits or withdrawals. At the moment of writing, On August 23, 2023:
Betway allowed iDebit transactions up to $3,000.
From a user perspective, iDebit and Instadebit function in the same manner. They allow people to make secure & instant online bank transfers as deposits to online sportsbooks and casinos that offer them as banking methods. Their accounts also allow people to withdraw funds back from player accounts so that funds may be forwarded to the original bank account, or be used for payments to other supported gambling sites or merchants. There are three main differences in their services:
1) If you were to compare the maximum transaction size allowable at our various recommended operators with iDebit, that figure will be significantly lower than the same figures for Instadebit, if both methods are available at the same operator. This won't affect 99% of players. However, if you might have to move larger sums of money, whether in or out of your player account, iDebit tends to be able to move less than Instadebit.
2) iDebit remains one of the most popular Canadian payment methods with respect to "offshore" or "grey market" gambling sites. While Instadebit was at one time very popular and available at nearly every major operator that served Canada, fewer brands support Instadebit now, while the count of sites that support iDebit remains high.
3) As we indicate above, iDebit works with personal bank accounts that are held within what are nine of largest banks in Canada. Instadebit however, works with personal bank accounts at essentially every financial institution in Canada, which includes regional banks and credit unions. So if you are with a credit union or banks like Canadian Western or Laurentian bank, Instadebit will work for you, but iDebit will not.
