Online casino brands Wildz & SpinAway gain AGCO iGaming license

October 27, 2022

Rootz Ltd. of Malta has served Canada from the "grey market" for several years with various casino-only brands, that have gained customers through television ads for their free-to-play domains of the same name.  Today, Rootz gained a license for their "Wildz" brand.  Rootz also operates brands known as "Wheelz", "Caxino" and "Spinz".

These other brands are noted on the Wildz AGCO license as related brands. Although, "Wheelz" is not the named license-holder here, they are perhaps the most noteworthy Rootz Ltd brand within the province, given the ads they've run which star David Hasselhoff.

Given the rules set by the AGCO with regard to a single entity operating several related gaming brands in the province, we would expect these related brands to gain their Ontario licenses before "Wildz" will be allowed to go live on the iGaming Ontario platform among the other legal Interac online casinos.

SpinAway is a relatively new casino-only brand that is owned by Ngame N.V. of Curacao, but whose online casino is regulated from Kahnawake.  Despite only being live since 2021, Ngame has gained the license for SpinAway to operate its casino site in Ontario.  Such brands are of no use to players that hope to have access to an online sportsbook.  Their platform does not have this type of gaming vertical available, so they will not be counted among the legal Ontario betting sites that serve sports wagering enthusiasts in the province.
