PokerStars, Casumo gain Ontario iGaming licenses

June 8, 2022

Today, two unrelated online gaming brands received their licenses to operate in Ontario. PokerStars, owned by Ireland's Flutter Entertainment plc, was granted its license to offer sports betting, casino and poker gaming types in the province.

Online casino and sports betting brand, Casumo, which served Canada from their "grey market" site based in Malta, will also enter the market, but their offering will only exist with those that are considered legal Ontario online casinos. Casumo will not look to offer an online sportsbook gaming type within Ontario.

Both PokerStars and Casumo will continue to serve Canadian-based players that are outside of Ontario from their respective Malta-based gaming sites.  With respect to Casumo, they offer both a casino and a sportsbook vertical to Canadians based outside Ontario.

Casumo is a private company, its shares are not available for purchase on any public stock exchange.  Flutter Entertainment's company shares are traded on both the Dublin and London stock exchanges under the symbol "FLTR". The company has another entry in the newly regulated Ontario online gaming market; the dominant US sportsbook brand, FanDuel.
