Pinnacle gets Ontario license from AGCO

The long-time Canadian "grey market" online sportsbook and casino provider, Pinnacle, has been serving all of Canada since the late 1990s from the gaming jurisdiction of Curaçao, and today gained its license to become one of several legal Ontario betting sites in order to serve the province in fully official capacity.  Pinnacle is only locally regulated in one other market, prior to gaining its legal Ontario sports betting and casino provider status, that is in the national market of Sweden. 

This rare move toward becoming a locally regulated provider, moving to pay taxes and license fees, signals to industry watchers just how important the Ontario market is for their brand. Pinnacle's rare choice to opt to operate within the regulated regime indicates that they must have accumulated a significant number of existing players that they wish to keep on their platform.

This move was telegraphed to the market through industry conference panel sessions where Pinnacle executives spoke about the importance of the Canadian market to their business, and through various job advertisements.  The key one of which was for a "Canada Country Manager" role, now filled by Canadian betting industry veteran & personality, Steven Rapp.
