Payz Betting Sites & Sportsbooks Canada 2024 (EcoPayz)

Payz, formerly known as EcoPayz, is an e-wallet platform that allows Canadians to deposit and withdraw Canadian Dollars to and from online sportsbooks and casinos that support Payz as a payment method.  Deposits via Payz to online gambling company merchants land in an instant, and withdrawals tend to be processed within a few hours.  We take you through some of the key points about Payz as an online gambling payment method for Canadians. Simply click or tap on your topic of interest to scroll directly, but know that Payz is no longer supported by a wide array of gaming brands. It is however supported by our #1 and #2 sportsbooks for the "rest of Canada" market, bet365 and Betway. If you are looking for Payz online casinos for Canada, we also list some casino-only brands to go alongside these sports & casino gaming options.

What methods are available to fund a Payz account from Canada?

Payz customers in Canada can fund their account using credit or debit cards, bank transfers, or even Interac.

What's the difference between Payz and PayPal?

Both Payz and PayPal are e-wallets where you access your money via their respective websites or mobile apps. However, PayPal does not work as a banking method between "grey market" online gambling operators that serve people in Canada (outside Ontario).  They only serve as this sort of payment conduit in jurisdictions that are fully regulated, like that of the legal Ontario market.

Payz on the other hand, has chosen to support these kinds of transactions to gambling sites in "offshore" jurisdictions from players across Canada, outside Ontario. As such, the level of transaction fees at Payz can be a relatively higher as compared to equivalent fees at PayPal, as offered in jurisdictions like Ontario.  Since PayPal is not available to use at betting sites or online casinos from the "rest of Canada" market, Payz understands that they can fill the void but charge higher fees for the convenience and speed of service provided.

Top online casinos for Canada that accept Payz

Both of our top Payz sportsbooks above also offer excellent online casinos for the "rest of Canada" market segment, especially Betway, which has a broad set of live casino games for all players across the country. However, if you are interested in additional options for casino play that support Payz as a payment option, well-known brands casino-only brands JackpotCity and Spin Casino also offer Payz for payments.

Are there any Payz (EcoPayz) betting sites for Ontario?

If there are, we have not found them. Payz, formerly EcoPayz, carved a niche in the "rest of Canada" market for online gaming, mainly because it was a "grey market" and more economical and widespread e-wallet platforms like PayPal would not serve it.  Within the now fully legal and regulated Ontario market, other more economical payment methods are fully available, including PayPal.

What are the fees to use Payz from Canada?

Payz charges a fee for just about everything done on its platform. The fees can vary significantly, whether you fund your account via bank transfer or via credit or debit card. They don't specify the exact fee amounts on site.  For bank accounts it could be 0% to 10%, and for cards it could be from 1.69% to 6.00% plus a nominal fee.  It is free to receive money via Payz from the merchant betting site or online casino, but there is a nominal fee of a few dollars to withdraw funds from Payz back to your bank account.  If for some reason you send funds to play at a betting site or online casino where your account is not in Canadian Dollars, Payz will charge a 2.99% currency conversion fee.  Given these fees could be relatively high, it makes sense to explore what kind of customer might actually want to use Payz from Canada.

Who should use Payz from Canada & who should not?

Put simply, Payz is likely best suited for online bettors or casino players in Canada that want to be able to deposit relatively large amounts of money in a quick fashion to their various gaming site merchants of choice.  If you are dealing with betting site deposits and withdrawals of say a few thousand dollars or less per transaction, Interac or other bank transfer methods like Instadebit, iDebit, or your debit cards are just as fast and are much cheaper to use than Payz.

Where Payz tends to have the edge over these other options is that it can facilitate speedy transactions that are much larger in size. These other methods mentioned above can sometimes only work with transaction sizes of $2,000, $5,000 or perhaps as much as $10,000, depending on the given payment method and gambling site. However, Payz can instantly facilitate payments that are much larger than this once you've funded your Payz account.  VIP level Payz accounts can be funded up to $200,000 or so via bank transfers. Once that money is in your Payz account, you can use Payz to send that money in an instant to the supporting merchants.

About Payz: why you can trust it as a payment method

Payz itself has been in operation since 2000, going back to the years when they were known as EcoPayz. They are regulated by the United Kingdom's Financial Conduct Authority, which authorises Payz under their parent company, PSI-Pay, to issue electronic money throughout the EU. Payz and PSI-Pay are principal partners with Mastercard, as in European countries (not Canada), the Payz solution can be integrated with pre-paid Mastercards. Furthermore, Payz / PSI-Pay are accredited by PCI Security Standards Council, which sets standards for card transaction security, as well as the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), which is the regulator over data protection in the UK.
